In this session, Sam will share his insights on the recent trends in the VC market which will be followed by detailed Q&A session beginning with addressing questions that came in during registrations. Sam Subramaniam
Sam Subramaniam is the President of Private equity at Bajaj Finserv and comes with deep expertise in business strategy, deals, investments, turnarounds & fundraising. Prior to joining Bajaj, Sam was the CEO of Brand Capital, the strategic investment arm of The Times Group. He is credited with restructuring the business during challenging times to drive growth & achieve the largest number of venture investments and exits during his 5-year stint as CEO. Prior to Brand capital he served as a senior adviser for a multi-billion-dollar retail finance and insurance business. Sam also founded a family office called Sprout Growth Advisors and a clutch of SPVs and Investment funds in India between 2005 and 2015. He was also a Managing Partner and Board Member of Houlihan Lokey (India+SE Asia) – the major US Mid-market investment bank. Earlier he served on the leadership team of American Express Company’s Strategic Planning and Business Development Group, and he was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. He started his career as a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. Sam has served as an economic adviser to the Dalai Lama’s Central Tibetan Administration and was also an eminent researcher on Intelligent Transport Systems during his early career. He is also the recipient of the Bharat Shiromani Award as Entrepreneur of the year 2019. Sam graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and holds graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University and the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
