For over a decade, the confluence of high economic growth, low-interest rates, rapid technological advances, and relatively uninterrupted globalization has benefitted global wealth creation. Unsurprisingly, India too has profited in this Goldilocks decade and has seen rapid growth in HNIs, a scaling up of business models, and emergence of wealth tech platforms.
But what now? The CFA Society India understands how important it is for wealth management professionals to come together and talk on trends. The annual India Wealth Management Conference has been one such forum for the last several years.
In 2021, the sixth edition of India Wealth Management Conference (#INWealth) – India Wealth Management Conference had an excellent mix of practitioners & thought leaders who discussed their insights on the recent trends in the wealth management industry, and best practices and shed light on what the future beckons. The keynote speaker, Ashok Wadhwa (Group CEO, Ambit Pvt Ltd) enlightened the delegates with anecdotes from his career journey and inspiring examples from the corporate world. He encouraged on reemerging and recreating ourselves at all points of time and urged all financial intermediaries to act responsibly and fairly.
In his session on “THE ALLOCATOR’S EDGE: Challenging the Conventional Wisdom of Portfolio Construction by Embracing Alternative Investments”, Philip R. Huber (CIO, Savant Wealth Management) spoke on the need to understand the nature of different alternative investments and client’s risk-return appetite to judiciously plan allocations in a portfolio. The panel discussion on-“Challenging the conventional”, led by Nitin Singh (MD & CEO, Avendus Wealth Management), Rajesh Saluja (CEO & MD, ASK Wealth Advisors) and Neeraj Choksi (Owner, NJ India Invest Pvt. Ltd) revolved around interesting topics such as keeping up with the new market offerings, managing client expectations and client behaviors, dealing with new customer segments, emerging trends and impact of social media influencers.
This year has a different landscape, where we battle with increased disruption of capital flows, rising inflationary pressures, higher interest rates and the emergence of economic fences across borders. There is a growing need for wealth management services to reimagine their offerings and the 7th edition of the India Wealth Management conference brings you just that. This year’s conference will be a full-day live event with an exciting list of carefully selected speakers. The conference will be hosted at Taj Lands End, Mumbai on 9th August.
The eagerly awaited conference opens with remarks from Margaret Franklin, CFA (President & CEO, CFA Institute) and Abhishek Loonker, CFA (Principal, GEF Capital Partners, Director, CFA Society India) followed by a keynote address by Navneet Munot, CFA (MD & CEO, HDFC AMC, Director, CFA Society India). Afterward, our top voices of the conference share their opinions in an eclectic mix of four sessions. The first session by Karan Bhagat (Founder, MD, CEO, IIFL Wealth & Asset Management) lays out the changing landscape of the wealth management industry and how to navigate it. Next, Larry Swedroe (CRO, Buckingham Wealth Partners) unpuzzles the returns conundrum and clarifies the right investment strategy. Neelkanth Mishra (MD, Credit Suisse) will take on the critical debate on the seriousness of the risk of macroeconomic accidents. And Ritika Mankar, CFA (Strategist, Global Investment Strategy, BCA Research) gives a peek at the buzzing question- America’s lead on Mega sized companies: Is a peak nigh?
